About The Position

The Triage RN at Michigan Heart Clinic provides clinical expertise and support to cardiac patients and staff, triaging test results to physicians and patients. The role includes patient assessment and education, coordination with physicians and clinical team members, review of results, and nursing services such as ECGs and medication support. The nurse follows established protocols, maintains accurate electronic health records and confidentiality, and contributes to safe, cooperative, patient-centered care.

Requirements

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
At least 3 years of cardiac nursing experience.
Competence in cardiac arrhythmia recognition.
Michigan nursing license.
BCLS certification.

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive triage and provide patient education.
Serve as a liaison between patients, primary care physicians, and Michigan Heart physicians.
Document medical information in patients’ electronic health records.
Review laboratory and test results and collaborate with a team assistant.
Recognize abnormal cardiac rhythms, vital signs, and symptoms; intervene according to protocols and report abnormal findings to cardiologists and other clinical team members.
Assess walk-in patients and determine whether they need an office visit or telephone follow-up.
Demonstrate dependability and flexibility with the work schedule.
Perform ECGs and other nurse visits as ordered by Michigan Heart physicians or providers.
Assist patients in obtaining medication authorizations and refill medications according to protocol.
Maintain cooperative relationships, address conflict constructively, identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in resolution.
Maintain confidentiality of information about patients, physicians, colleagues, employees, and visitors, and discuss patient and hospital information only with appropriate personnel in private settings.
Perform job duties safely and promptly report preventable hazards and unsafe practices to management.
