About The Position

Sentara Northern Virginia Medical Center is currently hiring a Registered Respiratory Therapist to work a Full Time, 14-week assignment! This role involves building upon the overall pulmonary management by identifying and implementing physician-directed respiratory care interventions for patients ranging in ages from neonates to adults in all clinical and ambulatory settings. The Registered Respiratory Therapist is responsible for age-specific assessment and treatment of patients and may have access to Protected Health Information (PHI) in the course of their duties.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree - Respiratory Therapy OR Bachelor’s Degree – Respiratory Therapy
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Certification - National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)
  • Respiratory Therapist License - State license - Virginia Department of Health Professionals (VADHP)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - Certification - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • State license, active NBRC RRT and BLS required at time of hire.
  • For new graduates only, must have State license and BLS at time of hire, and must obtain NBRC RRT within 6 months of hire date.

Nice To Haves

  • Non degreed applicants with RRT credentials prior to January 1, 2006 and graduates from a military RT program with RRT credentials will also be considered.
  • 1 year of clinical respiratory care experience
  • 2 years of NICU or PICU experience

Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement physician-directed respiratory care interventions.
  • Provide professional respiratory care practice for all patients ranging in ages from neonates to adults in all clinical and ambulatory settings.
  • Perform age-specific assessment and treatment of patients.
