About The Position

FirstChoice, Trinity Health’s mobile staffing solution, uses Registered Nurses to fill short- and long-term assignments throughout its health system. This part-time travel RN position is for Med Surg Tele at MercyOne Newton Medical Center in Iowa, with regional and nationwide opportunities available. Nurses may travel within a local region or nationally and experience a variety of practice settings. The assignment is 13 weeks, with a flexible start date and a schedule of three 12-hour night shifts per week. The role requires flexibility to float throughout a hospital, multiple hospital locations, or regions. The RN practices independently within their license, knowledge, experience, and specialty scope; follows professional nursing practice standards; remains accountable for delegation and clinical decisions; collaborates with stakeholders on quality improvement; and adapts to new responsibilities, ideas, cultural differences, and competing priorities.

Requirements

Graduate from an accredited school of nursing.
Hold valid RN licensure authorized in the applicable state(s) of practice or employment.
Have at least 18 months of recent clinical experience in Med Surg, Tele, or PCU.
Maintain credentials required for the specialty area, such as ACLS or TNCC.
Obtain BLS, ACLS, and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

Float throughout the hospital, multiple hospital locations, and/or regions as needed.
Apply the standard elements of professional nursing practice: assessment, outcomes identification and solutions, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
Practice independently and appropriately within licensure, scope of knowledge, and experience in the practice area.
Maintain accountability for delegation, choices, decisions, and outcomes.
Collaborate with key stakeholders and contribute to quality improvement practices and outcomes.
Adapt to new and additional responsibilities, new ideas, cultural differences, and competing priorities.
