About The Position

This is a travel assignment for a Registered Nurse in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) at a hospital in Carbondale, IL. The assignment is for 13 weeks, starting on 09/14/2026. The role involves providing direct patient care in the operating room during scheduled surgical cases. The nurse will be responsible for preparing patients, monitoring vital signs, maintaining a sterile field, assisting the surgical team, and documenting care. Requirements

Active Illinois Registered Nurse license
Current CPR/BLS certification
ACLS certification
Ability to float to clinically appropriate units as needed within scope and licensure
Availability for day shift with call as required

Responsibilities

Provide intraoperative nursing care in the CVOR for scheduled surgical cases
Prepare patients, assist with positioning, monitor vitals, and support instrumentation and anesthesia; maintain a sterile field
Assist the surgical team with instrumentation, specimen handling, surgical counts, and equipment setup
Monitor patient safety, infection control, and intraoperative changes; communicate clearly with the team
Document perioperative care and ensure accurate handoff to the recovery area
Float to clinically appropriate units as needed within scope of practice and licensure
