About The Position

The Transportation Driver safely and efficiently transports residents of The Center at Cordera to and from medical appointments, discharge locations, and approved activities. The role involves providing a secure and comfortable experience for residents, many of whom may have mobility challenges.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Valid state driver's license and clean driving record.
• Minimum of [X] years of professional driving experience (the posting gives 2 years as an example), preferably in healthcare or passenger transport.
• Ability to operate wheelchair lifts or ramps and safely secure mobility devices.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate and patient demeanor.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull residents and equipment as needed.
• Reliability, punctuality, and a strong sense of responsibility.
• Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
• Ability to sit for extended periods.
• Frequent bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting.
• Ability to assist residents with transfers and mobility.

Responsibilities

• Operate facility vehicles, such as vans and wheelchair-accessible vehicles, safely and in accordance with traffic laws and facility policies.
• Assist residents with boarding and exiting vehicles, including securing wheelchairs, walkers, and other mobility aids.
• Ensure residents' safety, comfort, and well-being during transport.
• Maintain accurate transportation logs, including mileage, destinations, and resident information.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and promptly report maintenance needs.
• Keep vehicles clean and ensure necessary supplies, such as a first aid kit and emergency contact information, are on board.
• Communicate with residents, their families, and facility staff about transportation schedules and concerns.
• Follow HIPAA and resident confidentiality guidelines.
