About The Position

The Transportation Driver helps skilled nursing residents travel safely and comfortably to medical appointments, outpatient programs, community facilities, and other destinations. The role includes coordinating transportation schedules, assisting residents with mobility as directed by clinical staff, observing and reporting changes in residents’ conditions, and maintaining the facility vehicle. The driver communicates with clinical staff and outside providers and supports residents’ comfort, dignity, and confidentiality throughout each trip.

Requirements

Certified Nurse Aide (CNA) in good standing (required).
Valid driver’s license in good standing.
Successful completion of a State-Approved Nurse Aide Training Program.
Current BLS/CPR certification (required).
Strong communication skills and a compassionate, patient-centered approach.
Ability to safely assist with resident transfers and mobility.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and transport residents to and from medical appointments, outpatient programs, and community facilities.
Develop and follow a daily driving schedule based on resident needs and appointment priorities.
Transport new or returning residents from hospitals or other facilities.
Observe residents during transport and report changes in their condition to nursing staff.
Assist with safe lifting, transfers, and mobility support as directed by clinical staff.
Maintain the facility vehicle by keeping it clean, safe, and in good working condition.
Communicate professionally with hospitals, clinics, and outside providers to support smooth scheduling.
Promptly notify nursing leadership of changes to appointment times or transportation needs.
Provide hydration and help ensure resident comfort during transport.
Protect resident belongings and maintain confidentiality.
