About The Position

Allen Lund Company is seeking Transportation Brokers to manage incoming and outgoing shipping logistics for cargo transportation carriers and shipping companies. The role involves acquiring and developing shipper relationships, building carrier capacity, negotiating market-based rates, booking freight, and managing loads in transit. Transportation Brokers also respond to customer issues and inquiries and prepare documentation for freight bills. Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in freight brokerage or customer service.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
• Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle conflict.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to process information quickly, make decisions, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent and effective communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Contact prospective customers and acquire new customers.
• Develop profitable volume with existing and newly acquired shippers and build relationships with developing accounts.
• Understand customers’ businesses and identify and solve their problems through consultation.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Contact and build relationships with carriers to increase capacity for specific projects and lanes.
• Stay informed about market freight rates to determine fair prices to pay carriers and charge shippers.
• Offer rates established by Senior Transportation Brokers and management, and negotiate as market demands.
• Recommend solutions for customers to Senior Transportation Brokers and/or management.
• Perform daily check calls on loads in transit and prepare the necessary documentation for freight bills.
• Handle freight brokerage and book loads.
• Follow company standards and principles of Customer, Company, Office.
