About The Position

Allen Lund Company is seeking Transportation Brokers to manage incoming and outgoing shipping logistics for cargo transportation carriers and shipping companies. The role involves customer acquisition and relationship development, carrier management and pricing, freight brokerage and load booking, and the daily coordination and documentation of freight movements. Transportation Brokers perform check calls on loads in transit, handle customer issues and inquiries, and help provide solutions while maintaining the company’s standards and delivering exceptional customer service.

Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of experience in freight brokerage or customer service.
• Self-motivated, enthusiastic team player able to excel in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong customer service orientation and excellent work ethic.
• Effective negotiation and problem-solving skills, including the ability to handle conflict.
• Excellent time-management skills and ability to multitask.
• Highly organized and detail-oriented.
• Ability to process information quickly, make decisions, and work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent and effective communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• College degree is highly desired, or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Contact new customers and acquire customers.
• Develop and increase profitable volume with existing and newly acquired shippers, and build relationships with developing accounts.
• Understand customers’ businesses and identify and solve their problems through strong customer relationships.
• Deliver exceptional customer service.
• Contact and build relationships with carriers to increase capacity for specific projects and lanes.
• Keep up-to-date knowledge of market freight rates to determine fair prices to pay carriers and charge shippers.
• Offer rates established by Senior Transportation Brokers and management, and negotiate as market demands.
• Recommend customer solutions to Senior Transportation Brokers and/or management.
• Perform daily check calls on loads in transit and originate documentation for freight bills.
• Handle freight brokerage and book loads.
• Follow company principles and standards for Customer, Company, and Office.
