The Transfer Specialist is responsible for the care, removal, and transport of deceased individuals. The role collaborates with team members to help ensure processes and procedures remain compliant. The specialist safely and courteously drives company-owned vehicles and keeps them clean. Professional appearance and a business suit are required when interacting with families; casual attire is permitted for vehicle maintenance. Responsibilities include performing first-call transfers, observing chain-of-custody and identification procedures, coordinating with first responders and facility staff, interacting sensitively with bereaved families, recording event information in proprietary software, and transporting or moving caskets. The specialist also cleans and fuels vehicles, maintains safety and supply requirements, and reports vehicle issues to management. The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a current state- or province-issued driver’s license with an acceptable driving record. At least one year of courier or driver experience is required; direct customer interaction experience is strongly preferred. Work includes local travel, indoor and outdoor conditions in all seasons, frequent standing and stair climbing, and lifting, pushing, or pulling as described in the posting. The schedule may include on-call weekends, nights, and holidays, and work beyond standard hours as needed.
