About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time SOLO Class A CDL Truck Driver in Huntington, West Virginia. The driver shuttles empty trailers and equipment between Ryder customer facilities. This is local work with daily home time and no-touch freight. The schedule is flexible, averaging 25–30 hours per week, with work completed Monday through Friday between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m.; days and times may vary. Pay is $18 per hour, with weekly pay stated as $540 per week. Drivers have access to 24/7 roadside maintenance by Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. Ryder describes its drivers as empowered to make driving-condition decisions to support safety.

Requirements

Be at least 21 years old.
Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, and road test.
Pass a DOT physical.
Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
Some assigned positions may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, badging, or customer-specific background requirements.

Responsibilities

Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
Shuttle equipment and empty trailers between Ryder customer facilities.
Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
Detect, eliminate, or minimize safety hazards.
Maintain accurate records and logs.
Complete continuous training and provide customer service.
Perform other tasks as assigned.
