About The Position

Ryder is hiring a part-time Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Tampa, Florida. The driver shuttles equipment between Ryder customer facilities on local routes and returns home daily. Freight is no-touch, consisting of empty trailers moved for equipment shuttle transfers. Drivers are paid weekly and receive 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians. The role involves safely operating a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations, participating in continuous training, and providing customer service.

Requirements

• Minimum age of 21.
• Pass a Ryder drug test.
• Pass a Ryder background and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
• Pass a DOT physical.
• Pass a Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
• Ability to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Ability to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Some positions may require additional employment and education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, and/or customer badging or background requirements.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety and DOT regulations.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities on local routes.
• Ensure compliance with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Provide customer service and participate in continuous training.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
