About The Position

Ryder has an immediate opening for a part-time Class A CDL Transfer Driver in Tampa, Florida. The driver shuttles equipment between Ryder customer facilities, moving empty trailers. This is a local route with daily home time and no-touch freight. Drivers receive 24/7 roadside maintenance support from Ryder-trained technicians, and service employees fuel trucks at Ryder maintenance facilities. Ryder emphasizes upfront pay and route transparency, driver-supported safety decisions, uniforms allowance, and a 401(k) rollover and company contributions with a match after one year. The company also offers unlimited bonuses for referring drivers who are hired.

Requirements

• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, motor vehicle check, DOT physical, and Ryder road test.
• Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
• Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the past 5 years, or 5 years within the past 10 years.
• Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
• Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
• Undergo verification of drug and alcohol history from previous employers for the last 3 years.
• Some assignments may require additional employment or education verification, motor vehicle records checks, road tests, or customer badging or background screening.

Responsibilities

• Safely drive a commercial vehicle while complying with safety requirements and DOT regulations.
• Shuttle equipment between Ryder customer facilities, including empty trailers.
• Complete continuous training and provide customer service.
• Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
• Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
• Maintain accurate records and logs.
• Perform other tasks as assigned.
