About The Position

AustralianSuper is a large superannuation fund with significant assets under management and a growing global footprint. The New York office is expanding its investment capabilities, focusing on Infrastructure, Property, Private Debt, and Private Equity. The Manager - Transaction Enablement Manager will be part of the team responsible for managing transactions within the Private Credit portfolio, reporting within Investment Services. Private Credit is a growing strategy within the Fixed Income, Currency and Credit (“FICC”) vertical. The main purpose of this role is to support the Private Credit team and the wider Investment Department in managing the execution of direct credit investments in line with the Fund’s governance requirements for direct investing (the “Direct Transaction Standard”) and the execution of manager-led strategies in line with the Fund due diligence process. This role also involves managing transactions led by Private Credit’s New York and London teams for global consistency, collating and reporting on transaction pipeline activity, costs, and budgeting, undertaking special projects to enhance processes, supporting the development of the New York based Private Credit transaction enablement and management capability, and other ad hoc tasks necessary to execute transactions from sourcing to signing. The role will work closely with the Private Credit asset class and monitoring teams, as well as other private market investment teams and stakeholders throughout the Fund, such as ESG, Tax, Legal, Finance, Operational Due Diligence, and Private Markets Operations teams. This role requires knowledge of and familiarity with large scale unlisted transactions. This is a newly created position, based on-site at 1251 Avenues of the Americas, with a hybrid work schedule, reporting to the Head of Investment Services.

Requirements

  • Tertiary-level qualifications.
  • 10+ year’s experience, ideally including experience in an investment management or investment banking environment.
  • Knowledge of and experience in direct unlisted transaction execution or Real Assets/Credit investment activities.
  • Extensive experience in dealing with key internal and external partners (including lawyers, accountants, consultants / advisors).
  • Experience in analysing and interpreting data.
  • Compliance / regulatory awareness and familiarity.
  • Project management experience and superior organisation skills.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship skills.
  • High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal direction.
  • Problem solving.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, setting and managing multiple conflicting priorities within specified time frames.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for Private Credit compliance with the Fund’s governance requirements for direct investments (the “Direct Transaction Standard”).
  • Supports the Transaction Team Lead (TTL) and Private Credit team in undertaking the direct transaction process for direct credit investments, including managing the execution of the agreed steps and deliverables.
  • Acts as the administrative liaison between the Private Credit team and other internal workstreams (e.g. legal, tax, ESG, ODD, Investment Relations, Valuations and Investment Operations) during the timeline of each transaction.
  • Tracks transactions against the Direct Transaction Standard and reports to the TTL on any unforeseen issues arising.
  • Tracks transactions from origination through to execution and monitoring phase, including maintenance of active deal pipeline, supplier onboarding, and ensuring funding/post completion activities are set-up appropriately.
  • Responsible for administering and ensuring compliance with the Direct Transactions Standard on live processes with a focus on internal process management and stakeholder management.
  • Organising meetings, including liaison with Secretariat for approval forum meetings.
  • Prepare minutes according to fund standards for approval forum meetings, and manage any other associated record keeping needed to document transaction approvals.
  • Updating transaction information folders (including data room uploads).
  • Contributing to direct transaction process improvements, including periodical updates to the Direct Transaction Standard, Procedures and Process guide and [Private Credit] transaction ‘playbooks’.
  • Streamlining transaction workflows, including the use of new IT applications.
  • Builds relationships across the Investment Department and other Fund functions to support efficient investment processes and seeks opportunities for cross-Fund learnings.
  • Tracks transaction due diligence expenditures against approved budget and prepares memorandum, in conjunction with transaction teams outlining the impact of each investment on the Private Credit budget, in particular regarding ASIC Regulatory Guidance 97 (RG97) disclosure requirements.
  • Oversight of the transaction team’s management of the transaction due diligence / bid budget.
  • Facilitates deal post-mortems (lessons learned) and periodic investment reviews.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Fund’s processes and practices including reviewing the systems and processes involved in funds commitments, direct credit investments, co-investments and co-underwrite investments.
  • Generating ideas, support and solutions to the Private Credit Senior Team relating to the transaction management team’s scope.
  • Assisting in the management and resolution of administrative roadblocks or incidents.
  • Supporting the management of the broader Private Credit portfolio.
  • Work with the broader Private Credit team to prepare reports for the Investment Department Leadership Group, US Board, and the Investment Committee.
  • Lead or support the review of the systems and processes involved in managing the Private Credit portfolio.
  • Respond to requests for information, analysis and reporting of the Private Credit portfolio (in particular, transaction activity, the direct credit pipeline funnel, transaction costs and budgeting etc.).
