About The Position

The Police Training Specialist, Civilian will be responsible for developing, implementing, coordinating, and evaluating training programs to ensure officers meet departmental, state, and national standards and are suitable for use within a healthcare setting to ensure the safety of patients, staff and officers. This is a non-sworn position.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Obtain certifications of the departments choosing in the areas of defensive tactics, firearms and active shooter response within one (1) year.
  • Five (5) years prior law enforcement experience or equivalent experience in a tactics training environment. Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
  • Three (3) years as a police trainer or similar tactics training environment. Relevant education may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.

  • Defensive Tactics: PPCT Instructor NLETC Instructor Gracie Survival Tactics Instructor Krav Maga Instructor Monadnock Certification
  • Firearms: NRA Law Enforcement Firearms Instructor State-certified Firearms Instructor Three-Gun Instructor proficiency
  • Active Shooter: ALERRT Certification FBI Active Shooter Certification NTOA Certification
  • Additional: Use of Force Instructor De-escalation Instructor Less-Lethal Instructor CPR/AED, Stop the Bleed, Tactical First Aid Instructor
  • Supervisory or administrative experience.
  • Experience supporting a training unit.
  • Experience with accreditation standards.
  • Experience with scenario based training.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, develop, coordinate, and deliver law enforcement training programs.
  • Maintain compliance with certification standards.
  • Serve as the lead instructor in defensive tactics, firearms, and active shooter response.
  • Maintain training records.
  • Assist in policy development specific to the training programs.
  • Coordinate with external providers.
  • Conduct scenario-based training and evaluations.
