Mesa Fire and Medical Department (MFMD) is seeking Civilian Paramedics to respond to medical incidents and provide Advanced Life Support (ALS) and medical transportation services to patients. This role involves providing advanced Emergency Medical Services (EMS) patient care both on-scene and enroute to the hospital. Responsibilities include using mobile computers, electronic patient care reporting (ePCR) software, and mobile radios; interacting with patients and performing physical examinations; communicating findings to hospitals; operating medical equipment such as cardiac monitors and defibrillators; performing advanced medical procedures like CPR and intubation; applying stabilizing measures; completing documentation; managing supplies and equipment; and participating in EMS programs and training. Civilian Paramedics also serve as the lead/functional supervisor for Civilian Emergency Medical Technicians (EMTs) on medical scenes. This position participates in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS) and is assigned to the Emergency Transportation Division, focusing on EMS calls rather than fire suppression. New hires undergo an 8-week Emergency Transport Services (ETS) Integration Program, followed by potential assignments on 12-hour or 24-hour shifts, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and overtime. This class is FLSA nonexempt.
