About The Position

We're looking for a seasoned training professional who has built systems, led programs across multiple sites, and knows how to translate culture into consistent behavior on the floor. Mothership is an independent craft coffee brand rooted in community and connection. From onboarding new recruits to leveling up seasoned baristas, you’ll be the force that turns training into transformation. This is a hands-on, on-your-feet role — part coach, part mentor, part barista Jedi. You’ll empower our crew with the skills, confidence, and sparkle to deliver excellence in every shot, every pour, every interaction.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of training or L&D experience, including multi-unit or corporate environments.
  • A track record of building programs — not just delivering them. You've designed something from scratch.
  • Experience in food & beverage, hospitality, or a similarly fast-paced, service-driven industry preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal range: you can coach a nervous new hire and give direct feedback to a tenured barista in the same afternoon.
  • Comfort with ambiguity. Some of this infrastructure doesn't exist yet. That excites you, not worries you.
  • Data literacy. You track what you build and can articulate ROI on training investment.
  • Physical stamina for a floor-based role — you will be on your feet, in the cafés, across Las Vegas.

Responsibilities

  • Design and manage Mothership's barista training program end-to-end — from onboarding to mastery.
  • Develop structured, scalable training tools, guides, and certification benchmarks.
  • Work shoulder-to-shoulder on the bar with baristas — coaching in real time, not just in theory.
  • Track and report on training KPIs: time-to-independent-flight, quality scores, retention, and cross-location consistency
  • Identify high-potential team members and build development pathways toward shift lead and management roles.
  • Partner directly with Café Managers and the COO to align training with operational standards and culture.
  • Iterate the program based on data, café observations, and manager feedback — not guesswork.
