About The Position

Complex is seeking a freelance TikTok Strategist to develop and oversee the voice and content strategy for Complex Bets on TikTok. The role creates and publishes social-first content that balances entertainment, education, and audience engagement, translating betting lines, futures, prop bets, prediction markets, and sports data into engaging, accessible posts. The strategist identifies timely sports, betting, prediction-market, and internet-culture narratives, and creates both planned and reactive content around sporting events, breaking news, market movements, and cultural moments. The position works cross-functionally with editorial, video, design, commerce, partnerships, and events teams to develop TikTok-first coverage and campaigns. It oversees community engagement, publishing workflows, analytics, and audience insights; develops recurring franchises and content formats; promotes Complex Bets initiatives and activations; and may appear on camera as a personality and analyst. The strategist may also manage freelancers, creators, contributors, and interns as needed. The role requires working nights, weekends, and holidays during major sporting events and key moments.

Requirements

2–4 years of social media, editorial, sports media, or content experience at a publisher, sports brand, betting company, or media platform.
Deep understanding of the Complex brand, audience, and voice.
Strong knowledge of sports betting, gambling culture, fantasy sports, predictive markets, and sports media.
Passion for sports, internet culture, and real-time conversation.
Proven understanding of TikTok platform strategy, audience growth, and engagement optimization.
Ability to quickly identify emerging narratives and trends before they reach peak virality.
Excellent writing, editing, communication, and decision-making skills.
Comfort appearing on camera and developing a personal presence within content.
Willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays during major sporting events and tentpole moments.
Strong understanding of responsible gaming guidelines and sports betting compliance considerations.
Extensive knowledge of major sports leagues, athletes, sports media personalities, and online sports communities.
Familiarity with prediction-market platforms, odds movement, market sentiment, and betting-related social conversation.
Ability to work cross-functionally and independently in a fast-paced environment.
Self-starter with strong organizational and project management skills.
Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Premiere Pro, CapCut, and mobile-first content creation tools.

Responsibilities

Develop, refine, and oversee the voice of Complex Bets across TikTok.
Create, curate, and publish content for the Complex Bets TikTok account.
Identify timely sports, betting, prediction-market, and cultural narratives and create content around them.
Lead community management, moderation, and audience engagement.
Pitch viral betting storylines, sports narratives, prediction-market movements, and social-first opportunities to editorial and social teams.
Translate betting lines, futures, prop bets, prediction markets, and sports data into engaging TikTok content.
Own content pegs across major sports calendars, including NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, UFC, college sports, soccer, and emerging prediction-market opportunities.
Collaborate with editorial, video, design, commerce, partnerships, and events teams on TikTok-first coverage and campaigns.
Promote Complex Bets content initiatives, live events, watch parties, partner activations, and commerce opportunities.
Create original real-time content around games, live events, breaking news, betting trends, memes, and cultural moments.
Produce reactive social content during live sporting events and major betting moments, often in real time.
Participate in editorial, content, and social brainstorms to help shape Complex Bets’ broader voice and strategy.
Track analytics, audience behavior, platform trends, and betting-related social performance; share insights and best practices.
Manage editorial publishing workflows and coordinate posting schedules across Complex Networks.
Use AI tools and emerging technologies to support content production, trend identification, audience insights, and creative development.
Appear on camera as a personality and analyst for TikTok content when appropriate.
Develop recurring TikTok franchises, series, and content formats to grow audience loyalty and engagement.
Manage freelancers, creators, contributors, and interns as needed.
