About The Position

The Therapy Services Aide I performs routine tasks in support of physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, and audiologists. The aide prepares patients, treatment areas, and equipment for care and assists with selected routine patient-care tasks or procedures under on-site supervision. The position is located at the Cowden Center in Phoenix and is scheduled Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
Previous patient-care experience.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for the healthcare worker, as appropriate for the assigned unit, required.

Nice To Haves

Graduate of a Physical Therapy Tech program preferred.

Responsibilities

Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and patients for treatment, and clean the area and equipment afterward.
Assist therapists with patient care for patients who require the help of two people.
Perform modality treatments using the correct parameters as directed by a therapist.
Observe, guide, assist, and record patient performance during range-of-motion, stretching, and strengthening exercises, activities of daily living, and dysphagia group activities.
Provide ambulation training to patients requiring minimal assistance or less.
Keep the department and gym neat and orderly, and return equipment to the Therapy Services storage area at the end of each day.
Maintain and clean equipment and supplies.
Maintain daily temperature logs and cleaning lists according to departmental guidelines.
Help control linen and supply inventory according to site guidelines, and organize and stock supplies systematically and efficiently.
Report equipment needing repair or maintenance to the Lead and assist with repairs as indicated.
Support and participate in departmental cross-coverage efforts.
Assist with inpatient and outpatient scheduling and enter therapy orders and productivity data as needed.
