About The Position
The Therapy Aide supports therapists in an inpatient rehabilitation hospital serving individuals with brain injuries, spinal cord injuries, neurological disorders, orthopedic issues, amputations, and multiple traumas. The aide performs patient-related tasks assigned by therapists, helps patients transfer and prepare for therapy, transports patients as needed, and assists with equipment setup and other treatment activities.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent required.
- Certified in BLS, or complete BLS certification within the first 90 days of employment.
Nice To Haves
- One or more years of hospital experience as a therapy aide preferred.
Responsibilities
- Perform patient-related tasks assigned by a therapist.
- Lift patients to and from mats, treatment and tilt tables, wheelchairs, and other equipment appropriate to the facility or department.
- Assist patients with transfers to all surfaces.
- Assist patients with donning and doffing appliances specific to the facility or department.
- Position patients in parallel bars and prepare them for standing with appropriate orthotic or prosthetic devices and equipment.
- Transport patients to and from therapy as needed.
- Assist therapists with other patient-related treatment activities and provide equipment as appropriate.
- Assist with patient-related activities, including equipment setup and patient positioning in preparation for therapy sessions, as outlined in the State Practice.
