About The Position

The Teller I provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service by receiving and paying cash and recognizing customers’ needs with appropriate suggestions about the Bank’s services. The role follows established policies and procedures in accordance with the Bank and supervisor’s direction. It also performs a range of teller and branch customer service duties, including transaction processing, cash and ATM balancing, customer inquiries, and participation in a scheduled Saturday rotation.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least six months of customer service and cash handling experience.
• Strong customer contact skills, including the ability to greet the public courteously and respond professionally to a variety of situations.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality of Bank records and customer transactions.
• Detail-oriented and accurate, with the ability to multitask and good mathematical aptitude.
• Ability to operate a computer terminal, 10-key, and other general office equipment.
• Willingness to participate in and represent Southern Bancorp through civic and community organizations.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in a bank or similar financial institution is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Processes night deposit and mail-in deposits.
• Maintains proper cash levels in drawers, secures cash, and maintains a high level of safety for the Bank.
• May service the ATM according to schedule or need.
• Opens safety deposit boxes.
• Completes CTR reports as needed.
• Performs branch CSR duties on a scheduled Saturday rotation.
• Accepts checks for cashing and deposits; verifies cash and endorsements, makes change, and issues receipts.
• Receives savings deposits and pays withdrawals after verifying balances and signatures; redeems U.S. Savings Bonds.
• Receives loan payments when an installment loan coupon accompanies the payment.
• Processes credit card cash advances.
• Responds to customer inquiries as appropriate.
• Sells cashier’s checks.
• Cross-sells Bank and affiliate services.
• Performs various balancing functions, including ATM balancing.
• Completes all required training.
• Performs other related duties as required or assigned.
