About The Position

SIMEDHealth is hiring a part-time Telephone Operator in Ocala, Florida. The operator is often the first point of contact for the practice and helps provide patients with a smooth, positive experience. The role answers and directs calls professionally, assists patients, confirms appointments, and performs related office tasks. It requires multitasking across multiple phone lines, attention to detail, and the ability to remain seated for long periods.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook.
Experience using electronic medical records.
Clear and professional speaking voice.
Genuine commitment to providing outstanding customer service.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Ability to multitask, handle multiple phone lines, and remain detail-oriented.
Ability to stay seated for long periods.

Responsibilities

Answer incoming calls courteously and direct patient calls to the appropriate extension using a multi-line phone system.
Respond to general customer service questions, such as questions about office directions and operating hours.
Verify patient information, update it as needed, and document appropriate healthcare information electronically in patient charts.
Type detailed notes.
Schedule appointments, verify insurance, and use an electronic fax server.
Read and interpret hospital call schedules.
Review provider schedules daily and throughout the day for availability.
Handle hospital consults and transitional care calls.
Direct new patient calls to the new patient coordinator.
Retrieve voicemail messages throughout the day and return calls when necessary.
Observe patient and staff safety policies and procedures, including HIPAA.
Provide patients with basic information about SIMEDHealth providers and services.
