Forklift Operator - Part-Time
About The Position
XPO is hiring a part-time Forklift Operator. The role pays an expected $26.05 to $32.04 per hour, with pay on an annual step progression; actual compensation may vary based on experience and skill set. The listed schedule is a night shift, 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. Competitive and comprehensive benefits options are available to employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week. This is a Motor Carrier Act Exempt position. Forklift Operators work on a dock that is not climate-controlled, sorting and handling freight and using motorized and manual equipment to load, unload, secure, scan, and track shipments. The role requires frequent lifting of freight up to 50 pounds and occasional lifting of more than 70 pounds, along with extended periods of walking and standing and other physical movements.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age.
- Be able to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
- Be available to work a variety of shifts due to varying freight volumes, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
- Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes, and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally more than 70 pounds.
- Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
- Reach, including above the head; bend; climb; push; pull; twist; squat; and kneel as necessary.
Nice To Haves
- Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.
- Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
- Experience loading and unloading trailers.
- Strong attention to detail and a desire to succeed.
Responsibilities
- Efficiently sort, handle, load, and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
- Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts.
- Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
- Work safely and efficiently while adhering to company safety policies.
- Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
