About The Position

Oak Harbor Freight Lines is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Forklift Operator/Dock Worker to load, unload, and move freight efficiently while preventing damage. The role works in a fast-paced dock environment and requires attention to detail and the ability to work well with a team. The company operates across Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, and California.

This is a part-time position. Employees must be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs and meet the company's reliability standard.

Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Basic English proficiency in reading, writing, and verbal communication is required.
• Simple arithmetic, weight, and/or measuring skills are required.
• Ability to communicate positively and effectively with customers, coworkers, dispatch, and managers.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED/equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Previous warehouse or similar experience is strongly preferred.
• Forklift experience is strongly preferred.
• Experience using tools and equipment such as a hand truck, four-wheel dock cart, pallet jack, barrel truck, dock plates, load locks, and/or rope is preferred.
• Experience in an LTL operation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Safely load and unload trailers using forklifts, pallet jacks, or hand trucks within specified timelines.
• Note and record exceptions in the count or condition of shipments to minimize cargo claims.
• Check the accuracy and completion of delivery receipts, bills of lading, and trailer manifests.
• Count freight and verify the accuracy of hazardous material shipments and special loading or handling instructions.
• Regroup shipments as needed.
• Meet the company's reliability standard for employees.
• Be available to work various shifts during the week to accommodate business needs.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
