Forklift Operator - Part-Time

About The Position

XPO is hiring a part-time Forklift Operator to work on a freight dock. The role involves sorting, handling, loading and unloading freight, using motorized and manual equipment, securing freight in trailers, and scanning and tracking shipments with mobile handheld devices. The dock is not climate-controlled, and work may involve extended periods in that environment. The position is classified as exempt under the Motor Carrier Act. Pay starts at $26.05 per hour. Competitive and comprehensive benefits options are available to employees scheduled to work 30 hours or more per week.

Requirements

Be at least 18 years of age.
Be able to perform basic math calculations, with and without a calculator.
Be available to work a variety of shifts because freight volumes vary, including days, evenings, nights and weekends.
Lift freight and other objects of various shapes, sizes and weights, frequently up to 50 pounds and occasionally greater than 70 pounds.
Safely walk and stand for extended periods on a loading dock that is not climate-controlled and may be slippery.
Reach, including above the head; bend; climb; push; pull; twist; squat; and kneel as necessary.

Nice To Haves

Dock or warehouse experience in the transportation industry.
Forklift experience in a freight or less-than-truckload (LTL) environment.
Experience loading and unloading trailers.
Strong attention to detail and a desire to succeed.

Responsibilities

Efficiently sort, handle, load and unload palletized and non-palletized freight.
Use appropriate motorized and manual equipment, including pallet jacks and forklifts.
Secure freight inside trailers using appropriate tools and supplies.
Work safely and efficiently while adhering to company safety policies.
Use mobile handheld devices to scan and track shipments.
