About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Memphis East is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronic, critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, recognizing rhythms and artifacts, maintaining monitor alarms, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The position completes EKG interpretations, with strip interpretations validated by an RN. This is a full-time night position at the hospital located inside Baptist East in Memphis, Tennessee. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., and compensation is $18.50 to $22.56 per hour. The hospital offers an extensive Telemetry Technician orientation program, tuition reimbursement, continuing education, insurance coverage, paid time off, and a 401(k) with company match.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting the position.
Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
