About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Augusta is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps support patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The role includes completing EKG interpretations and ensuring that strip interpretations are validated by an RN. The position is full-time nights, from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., in Augusta, Georgia. Compensation is $18.23 to $22.22 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program and supports career growth and personal well-being.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position's start date.
Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Observe all assigned monitors continuously and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
