About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Memphis East is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned cardiac monitors, identifying rhythms and artifacts, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. The position is full-time nights, 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., in Memphis, Tennessee, at a location inside Baptist East. Compensation is $18.50 to $22.56 per hour. The hospital provides an extensive orientation program for Telemetry Technicians. The position requires completion and passing of an EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the start date, as well as passing other tests and competencies required by Select Medical.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

Continuously watch monitors and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Continuously observe all assigned monitors and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
