About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital Milwaukee - West Allis is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps provide compassionate care by continuously monitoring assigned patients, recognizing rhythms and artifacts, and responding promptly and appropriately to alarms. This is a per diem/PRN position with 12-hour night shifts in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians.

Responsibilities

• Continuously watch assigned monitors and ensure alarms receive appropriate and timely responses.
• Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
