About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Phoenix is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients requiring extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps provide compassionate care by continuously monitoring assigned patients, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining monitor alarms, responding promptly to alarms, and completing EKG interpretations. Strip interpretations must be validated by an RN.

Requirements

• Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the position start date.
• Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

• Continuously monitor assigned patients and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
• Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifacts.
• Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
• Observe all assigned monitors continuously and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
• Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
• Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
