About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Daytona Beach is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician supports patient care by continuously monitoring assigned EKG monitors, identifying rhythm changes and artifacts, and ensuring alarms receive appropriate and timely responses. The position is full-time, daytime, with 12-hour shifts. The technician completes EKG interpretations, including assessment of rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm. Strip interpretations must be validated by an RN. The employer provides an extensive orientation program and supports career growth and personal well-being.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of starting in the position.
Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as telemetry technicians only.

Responsibilities

Continuously observe all assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
