About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - McKeesport is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who require extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician helps support patient care by continuously monitoring assigned patients, identifying rhythms and artifacts, maintaining monitor alarms, and responding to alarms appropriately and promptly. The role includes interpreting EKG strips, with interpretations validated by an RN. The schedule is 7 p.m. to 7 a.m. The position offers an orientation program and support for career growth and personal well-being.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Technicians and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the start date in the position.
Pass other tests and competencies required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

Continuously observe assigned monitors and ensure appropriate, timely responses to alarms.
Verify identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifacts.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to alarms as needed.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
