About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - McKeesport is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. The Telemetry Technician continuously monitors assigned patients, identifies rhythms and artifacts, maintains monitor alarms, and responds promptly to alarms. The role includes preparing EKG interpretations and ensuring strip interpretations are validated by an RN. The position is full-time, scheduled from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m., at 1500 Fifth Avenue, 6th Floor Crawford Building, McKeesport, Pennsylvania 15132. Compensation is $18.92 to $25.46.

Requirements

Complete and pass the EKG class for Monitor Techs and required competencies on the education platform within 30 days of the start date in the position.
Pass other tests and competencies as required by Select Medical.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent.
Preferred background as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Licensed Paramedic, or RN nursing student with EKG training. LPNs are limited to working as a telemetry technician only.

Responsibilities

Continuously watch monitors and ensure appropriate and timely responses to alarms.
Verify correct identification of basic rhythms, lethal rhythms, and artifact.
Maintain EKG monitor alarms and respond to all alarms as needed.
Continuously observe all assigned monitors and respond to alarms promptly and appropriately.
Complete EKG interpretations, including rate, regularity, PRI, QRS, QTI, QTc, ST segment, waveform alterations, and rhythm interpretation.
Ensure strip interpretations are validated by an RN.
