About The Position

Provide in-home respite support to an energetic child in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. The role begins by working alongside the child’s mother to build a positive relationship and learn the child’s routine and regulation styles. Over time, care will transition gradually to independent respite so the mother can take breaks outside the home. The schedule is flexible and confirmed with the parent in advance; weekends and late afternoons or evenings are preferred. Compensation is $14.13 per hour.

Requirements

• Be high-energy, fun, patient, and compassionate.
• Be active and outdoorsy and enjoy playing and moving around.
• Remain calm under pressure and compassionate in all interactions.
• Be pet friendly.
• Have a driver’s license, reliable vehicle, and auto insurance.
• Pass a caregiver/criminal background check.
• Have experience working with children with unique needs.
• Be comfortable giving gentle hygiene reminders.

Nice To Haves

• Availability on weekends and in late afternoons or evenings is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Engage the child in screen-free activities such as crafts, reading, homework help, and creative projects.
• Participate in active, hands-on play and activities, including soccer, Pokémon GO adventures, rock collecting, tinkering, and imaginative play.
• Support the child’s independence and emotional regulation in a calm, structured way.
• Work closely with the child’s mother to learn the child’s routine and regulation styles, gradually transitioning to independent care.
• Provide gentle support or redirection during transitions or when preferred activities end.
• Remain attentive to the child’s safety, particularly because the child may wander off when distracted.
• Give gentle hygiene reminders as needed.
