About The Position

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is hiring a full-time Behavioral Support Classroom Aide (BSA) at its Sweet Home location in Amherst, NY. The role supports preschool children in special education classrooms and helps manage the children and classroom environment. The BSA works Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., and participates in a six-week summer program in July and August. The position provides support to multiple classrooms and works under the direction of classroom teachers.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Experience working with children, in a classroom setting, and/or with children or adults with developmental delays or disabilities.
Adequate vision, speech, tactile, and hearing senses to perform job requirements.
Ability to perform physical actions that may include lifting, bending, kneeling, standing, squatting, reaching, sprinting, crawling, and running.
Frequent sitting and standing, including floor sitting with pediatric patients when appropriate.

Responsibilities

Assist the classroom team in producing and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
Work as a team member in classroom design and implementation.
Implement and maintain behavioral support responsibilities.
Follow policies and procedures related to behavior management (CPI).
Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.
Follow site-specific bus duty procedures to safely escort children to and from their classrooms.
Follow site-specific procedures for distributing breakfast and lunch under NYSED, Health Department, and OCFS guidelines.
Follow BHSC staff guidelines and codes of conduct, including mandatory meetings, training, and procedures in the employee handbook.
Attend to the individual needs of children and reinforce educational goals.
Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
