About The Position

Buffalo Hearing & Speech is hiring a Behavioral Support Classroom Aide (BSA) to work with preschool children in special education classrooms at its Sweet Home location in Amherst. The aide assists with managing the children and classroom environment and provides support to multiple classrooms. This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday, 7:45 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., including a six-week summer program in July and August.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Experience working with children, in a classroom setting, and/or working with children or adults with developmental delays or disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Assist the classroom team in producing and implementing age-appropriate lessons and activities.
• Work as a team member in classroom design and implementation.
• Implement and maintain behavioral support responsibilities.
• Follow policies and procedures related to behavior management (CPI).
• Maintain a healthy, safe, and organized classroom environment.
• Follow site-specific bus-duty policies and procedures to safely escort children to and from their classrooms.
• Follow site-specific breakfast and lunch distribution procedures under NYSED, Health Department, and OCFS guidelines.
• Follow BHSC staff guidelines and codes of conduct, including mandatory meetings, training, and procedures stated in the employee handbook.
• Perform other duties as requested by the supervisor.
