About The Position

McDonald Mazda South is seeking an automotive technician to diagnose and repair vehicles to specifications in a clean, modern, fully equipped service center. The role is compensated based on flagged hours, with average compensation of $30–$45 per flat-rate hour and potential performance-based bonuses, overtime pay, and incentives. The technician will use diagnostic equipment and shop tools to identify and repair vehicle problems and explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to customers in understandable terms.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
1–3 years of automotive technician experience.
Ability to drive and handle various vehicle makes, models, and sizes.
Mechanical and troubleshooting skills and ability to operate electronic diagnostic equipment.
Team-oriented, flexible, and focused on maintaining a high level of customer service.
Working knowledge of shop equipment, including wheel and tire equipment, electrical and engine systems, alignment systems, diagnostic equipment, and AC equipment.

Responsibilities

Diagnose and repair vehicles to specifications using tools such as infrared engine analyzers, compression gauges, and computerized diagnostic devices.
Tear down, repair, replace, or rebuild faulty assemblies, including power systems, steering systems, linkages, pistons, rods, gears, valves, and bearings.
Rewire ignition systems, lights, and instrument panels, and repair manual and automatic transmissions.
Explain technical diagnoses and required repairs to non-mechanical individuals.
