About The Position
Sunbelt Rentals is seeking a Mechanic to perform preventive maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on equipment in a safe and effective manner to minimize downtime. The fleet varies by location and primarily includes aerial work platforms, general construction tools, and equipment. Specialty locations may also maintain large-scale power generators, pumps, HVAC systems, and oil and gas equipment. This role offers opportunities to work on a variety of equipment and develop skills for a career track in service or operations management, in a safety-focused environment. The physical demands include bending, squatting, crouching, reaching, lifting 50 pounds or more, and working indoors or outdoors as required. Duties may include other miscellaneous or incidental tasks. Reasonable accommodations may be made in accordance with applicable laws.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Advanced knowledge of hydraulic systems and troubleshooting.
- Advanced knowledge of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
- Ability to adapt to changing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to bend, squat, crouch, reach, and lift 50 pounds or more.
- Ability to work indoors or outdoors when required by the job.
Nice To Haves
- Some trade school or equivalent training is desired.
- Three to five years of mechanic experience with similar diesel or heavy equipment, or specialty-lines equipment such as large-scale generators, pumps, HVAC, or oil and gas equipment, is strongly preferred.
- May need to provide mechanic’s tools of the trade.
- Bilingual ability (Spanish or another language) may be required based on location needs.
