About The Position

Walmart is hiring a General Facilities Maintenance Technician to maintain food equipment and other facilities, equipment, and assets in Walmart stores. The role includes routine inspections, cleaning, diagnosis, and repair, following established maintenance schedules and guidelines under the supervision of the local General Maintenance Manager. The technician uses multiple craft skills and responds to work orders and emergency maintenance calls, documenting repair activities in the work order management system.

The position focuses on commercial food equipment, including ovens, slicers, fryers, hot cases, ice makers, and related equipment, as well as grease and oil systems. The technician also supports safe equipment operation by completing required training, helping Store Associates care for and clean equipment, and limiting food cross-contamination risks. The role requires customer-focused communication, adaptability, and teamwork.

The position is based at a Walmart retail store. The work may involve ladders, heights, various temperatures, and extended periods sitting or standing. Compensation packages depend on candidate-specific factors. An additional bonus may be available and will be disclosed during the interview process; a sign-on bonus is currently offered for select locations.

Requirements

• Be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
• Ability to move up and down ladders frequently and work at heights frequently.
• Ability to sit or stand for long periods and work in various temperatures.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass a Motor Vehicle Record report.
• Related trade license in the city and/or state where the job is located.
• Meet one of the stated experience pathways: vocational or technical certification and 2 years of experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related area; or 4 years of experience in those areas.
• Commercial driving record with no DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions within the last five years; no more than two moving violations in the last three years; no preventable commercial motor vehicle accidents in the last three years; and no serious traffic violations while operating a commercial motor vehicle in the last three years.
• Ability to diagnose and repair commercial food equipment, follow preventative maintenance schedules, manage work orders and maintenance logs, communicate respectfully, adapt to changing demands, and collaborate with a team.

Nice To Haves

• Experience in mechanical maintenance or a construction-related field involving commercial HVAC/R and building controls.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair Walmart facilities, equipment, and assets using multiple craft skills, including plumbing, electrical, carpentry, material handling equipment, and food equipment maintenance.
• Follow maintenance schedules and conduct inspections, cleaning, testing, and repairs of facilities, equipment, or fixtures.
• Use the work order management system to receive reactive repair work orders and document repair activities.
• Respond promptly to emergency maintenance calls.
• Complete required training to operate equipment and tools safely.
• Train or support Store Associates in equipment care and cleaning.
• Maintain accurate work orders and maintenance logs.
• Help ensure equipment safety and functionality and reduce food cross-contamination risks in food production areas.
