About The Position
The Technician, Facility Services, Exterior Services, manages and executes exterior maintenance and repair projects to help ensure facility environments are safe, functional, and compliant. The role coordinates resources, oversees third-party providers, maintains equipment, and follows safety and environmental regulations. It requires communicating with facility users, prioritizing work assignments, and implementing cost-effective improvements. The Technician also maintains vehicles, operates machinery, and supports quality, sustainability, and operational efficiency across Walmart’s exterior service operations. The Facility Services Exterior team maintains safe, efficient, and well-functioning environments for customers and associates. Its work includes exterior maintenance, seasonal activities, equipment operations, project coordination, material sourcing, and support for sustainable facility upgrades. The team collaborates to address facility needs, troubleshoot issues, and uphold company policies and safety standards.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of experience in the landscaping or gardening industry.
- Valid state-issued driver's license.
- Proven experience in facility maintenance, including exterior services and seasonal upkeep.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA and EPA regulations and commitment to safety and environmental compliance.
- Ability to safely and efficiently operate and inspect heavy machinery and powered equipment.
- Skill in managing budgets, sourcing materials, and approving purchases to control costs.
- Ability to lead third-party providers and conduct quality assurance inspections.
- Problem-solving skills to assess and resolve customer and facility issues.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize assignments and manage multiple projects.
Nice To Haves
- Associate’s degree or equivalent in Engineering, Maintenance, Construction Management, or a related area.
- Experience in third-party management.
- Experience using intermediate-level word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software, such as Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
- State or local licensing where required, such as in Florida, Texas, or California.
Responsibilities
- Manage and prioritize exterior facility service projects, ensuring timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
- Prepare and execute budgets, including cost estimates and approval of purchases for parts, materials, and equipment.
- Perform seasonal exterior maintenance, including snow and ice management, landscaping, and shopping cart servicing.
- Operate and maintain vehicles and heavy machinery safely, conduct inspections, and coordinate required maintenance.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and company safety policies while identifying and addressing hazards.
- Lead third-party providers, conduct performance evaluations, and provide technical assistance for repairs and upgrades.
- Collaborate with Home Office to standardize equipment and optimize inventory levels.
