About The Position

Apple’s Hardware Group is seeking a collaborative, systems-minded professional to join the HW Tech Docs team and support and shape its internal documentation platform. The team builds and maintains documentation infrastructure—including CLIs, web UIs, and APIs—that enables silicon designers and architects to author specifications for Apple custom silicon. The role initially serves as the primary quality gateway and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) driver between software development and production releases. By learning how authors use the tools, the successful candidate will use testing insights and user feedback to advocate for the platform, define future features, and communicate quality metrics and roadmap priorities to leadership. This is an opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of structured authoring and publishing workflows to move from traditional writing or testing into product ownership, cross-functional coordination, and platform advocacy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree combined with several years of industry experience, or equivalent practical experience in technical documentation tooling, QA, or product support.
  • Hands-on familiarity with structured XML authoring formats such as DocBook or DITA and automated document publishing/rendering toolchains.
  • Experience executing User Acceptance Testing (UAT), regression testing, or quality verification across software environments such as Integration, Staging, and Production.
  • Proficiency with software development workflows, Jira issue tracking, and agile collaboration environments.
  • Familiarity with AI tools, agentic workflows, or automation scripts for testing or triage.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with software developers, hardware engineers, engineering managers, and leadership.
  • Systematic problem-solving, attention to detail, and ownership of user experience and quality gates.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience transitioning from technical writing, documentation tooling, or QA into product ownership, business analysis, or product advocacy.
  • Experience generating, tracking, and presenting test coverage metrics, regression statistics, and release dashboards.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git or Perforce and command-line interfaces (CLIs).
  • Experience collaborating within globally distributed, multidisciplinary engineering organizations.
  • Comfort working in IP-sensitive, secure development and hardware specification environments.

Responsibilities

  • Design, execute, and maintain end-to-end user acceptance test plans for new platform releases.
  • Validate user journeys across complex structured publishing workflows.
  • Integrate AI-driven and automated testing workflows.
  • Triage, report, and track critical issues with engineering teams in Jira, maintaining a strict quality bar before general release.
  • Connect Software Development, Platform Support, Applications, and End-User Engineering teams.
  • Partner with Support and Applications leads to identify systemic author pain points and turn recurring bug reports into structured platform enhancements.
  • Synthesize UAT findings, regression data, and user friction into actionable feature requirements and product user stories.
  • Partner with the Product Owner and Engineering Leads to define and prioritize platform roadmap items.
  • Communicate release readiness, quality trends, and roadmap proposals to leadership and executive stakeholders.
