ELITS is now looking for a Technical Writer in the Software Development field for our operations in Montreal. Job Summary: Working in an Agile-driven environment, this technical writer must work independently and in collaboration with other writers and Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to create and update technical documentation such as user and system administration guides as well as operations and maintenance instructions in the Software Development domain.

Requirements

  • Bachelor´s degree in English, Journalism, Communication or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years experience as a Technical Writer.
  • Excellent command of the English language.
  • Ability to research and convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
  • Highly developed interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate with peers and Subject-Matter Experts.
  • Great knowledge of industry standard technical writing tools (Desktop publishing tools, Acrobat, and so on).
  • Good understanding of file management and version control systems.
  • Highly developed knowledge of style guide principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior knowledge of writing about Software products would be a great asset.
  • Knowledge of XML editor is an asset.
  • Experience in documenting user interfaces such as Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), Web Interfaces, and Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) is preferable

Responsibilities

  • Research and fully understand the products and services being documented.
  • Follow product information standards and processes.
  • Work with rapid iterative planning and development cycles associated with Agile methodologies.
  • Produce various customer documentation.
  • Develop and integrate graphics with deliverable documents.
  • Synthesize content from disparate document sources from multiple authors, into a single deliverable.
  • Use version control system to maintain files.
  • Perform tasks such as editing, formatting, or converting documents.
