ELITS is now looking for a Technical Writer in the Software Development field for our operations in Montreal. Job Summary: Working in an Agile-driven environment, this technical writer must work independently and in collaboration with other writers and Subject-Matter Experts (SMEs) to create and update technical documentation such as user and system administration guides as well as operations and maintenance instructions in the Software Development domain.

Requirements

Bachelor´s degree in English, Journalism, Communication or a related field preferred.
5+ years experience as a Technical Writer.
Excellent command of the English language.
Ability to research and convey technical information in a clear and concise manner.
Highly developed interpersonal skills, and ability to effectively communicate with peers and Subject-Matter Experts.
Great knowledge of industry standard technical writing tools (Desktop publishing tools, Acrobat, and so on).
Good understanding of file management and version control systems.
Highly developed knowledge of style guide principles.

Nice To Haves

Prior knowledge of writing about Software products would be a great asset.
Knowledge of XML editor is an asset.
Experience in documenting user interfaces such as Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs), Web Interfaces, and Command Line Interfaces (CLIs) is preferable

Responsibilities

Research and fully understand the products and services being documented.
Follow product information standards and processes.
Work with rapid iterative planning and development cycles associated with Agile methodologies.
Produce various customer documentation.
Develop and integrate graphics with deliverable documents.
Synthesize content from disparate document sources from multiple authors, into a single deliverable.
Use version control system to maintain files.
Perform tasks such as editing, formatting, or converting documents.
