About The Position

The Technical Service Representative delivers technical expertise and product support to customers, helping them optimize the performance and application of PPG automotive coatings and related application technologies. The role works closely with customers to troubleshoot challenges, resolve inquiries, monitor application processes, support material orders, and promote successful product use while providing a superior customer experience. Comprehensive training and development opportunities are provided. The position is based onsite at the Mazda Toyota Manufacturing facility in Athens, Alabama, and reports directly to the Optima Solutions Site Manager. The representative also supports other PPG automotive coatings customers in surrounding areas as needed.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 2 years of related experience in a manufacturing environment or similar.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Excel, and ability to maintain accurate spreadsheets and records.
Ability to work effectively in a team-based environment and partner with others to solve challenges.
Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and collaboratively at every organizational level.
Comfort working around automated equipment.
Ability to lift approximately 30 pounds on a limited basis.
Willingness to work a day shift and occasional evening or weekend hours as needed.

Nice To Haves

Hands-on experience with industrial coating technologies, such as Electrocoat, Pretreatment, Sealer, and LASD.

Responsibilities

Deliver customer service focused on product expertise, continuous improvement, and effective problem resolution.
Build customer relationships at all levels, address customer concerns, troubleshoot problems, and support sales positioning.
Respond to customer inquiries, monitor application processes, assist with material ordering, and provide hands-on support.
Manage daily, weekly, and monthly inventory activities, including forecasting, ordering, receiving, and distributing materials for production operations.
Conduct inventory audits with customers and suppliers to verify accuracy and support replenishment; identify and communicate potential shortages, excess inventory, and products nearing expiration.
Assist with customer orders, including daily priority lists, record maintenance, and tracking late orders.
Provide regular updates to internal PPG technical teams and account management.
Follow safe work practices and explain technical concepts to technical, production, and non-technical personnel to meet customer requirements.
Support customer projects and assist with process improvements as needed.
Service other PPG automotive coatings customers in surrounding areas as needed to support the sales and service team.
