Technical Product Manager - Payments

Felix Technologies, Inc.•New York, NY
•$170,000 - $220,000•Remote

About The Position

Félix is seeking a highly hands-on and technical Product Manager to lead the development and scaling of its next-generation payments platform. The platform moves money from when a customer funds a payment through settlement with banking partners, and supports multiple Félix products requiring money movement. The role combines technical depth, platform-level strategy, and a resourceful, action-oriented approach, with the goal of improving conversion, authorization rates, and unit economics. The Product Manager will own the payment orchestration layer and its ecosystem, including multiple payment processors, banking and settlement partners, tokenization, and reconciliation. This is a builder role involving close collaboration with Engineering and direct ownership of key business metrics such as authorization rate, processing cost, and GMV. The position is suited to someone who takes ownership and works effectively in a high-growth, ambiguous environment.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of product management experience, focused on payments, ideally in a fast-paced startup or growth environment as a primary builder.
  • Technical fluency and resourcefulness, including experience working with engineering teams on API-based payment solutions, ability to run simple SQL queries, and understanding of data pipelines and system resilience, such as timeouts, fallbacks, and service dependencies.
  • Deep understanding of the payments ecosystem—including payment orchestration, processors/PSPs, acquiring and banking partners, card networks, authorization and settlement flows, tokenization, and reconciliation—or a track record of rapidly developing deep expertise in a new technical area.
  • Experience owning payment performance metrics such as authorization rate, conversion, processing cost, and GMV, and using them to drive product improvements.
  • Experience working with payment processors and orchestration.
  • Strong ownership and bias toward action, with comfort working hands-on rather than delegating.
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, especially with fraud, finance, compliance, executive teams, and external partners.
  • Passion for fintech and digital finance innovation.
  • Equivalent competencies in the listed areas will also be considered.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with alternative payment rails such as ACH, BNPL, wallets, and stablecoins.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own the payments roadmap with Product and Engineering leadership, unifying processors, banking partners, and payment methods in a scalable orchestration platform for pay-ins, routing, and settlement.
  • Drive the evolution of the in-house payment orchestrator and rules engine, including intelligent processor routing, fallback and resilience logic, and balancing authorization rates, transaction costs, and reliability.
  • Own reconciliation and settlement health across processors and banking partners, working toward automation.
  • Own payment metrics and conduct hands-on analysis, including navigating dashboards and running SQL queries to validate hypotheses and improve conversion, acceptance, and authorization.
  • Partner with Engineering to design, build, and launch payment methods and integrations across cards, wallets, ACH, cash, processors, and settlement banks.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Finance, and Operations to develop scalable solutions for reconciliation, treasury, revenue recognition, payment operations, and disputes.
  • Coordinate with Fraud to monitor performance by payment method and provide data needed for fraud checkpoints.
  • Partner with Business Development on processor and banking partner negotiations.
  • Communicate payments strategy and impact to executive leadership and manage relationships with payment processors, acquiring and banking partners, and card networks.
