About The Position

Socket is seeking a technical enablement leader to own technical readiness across Customer Engineering, including Sales Engineers, Technical Account Managers, Customer Success Managers, and Support. The role will initially focus on Sales Engineering, where the need is greatest, and expand enablement across the other teams. Reporting to the Head of Enablement, the role partners closely with the Head of Sales Engineering, SE managers, and other Customer Engineering leaders. The Head of Enablement owns learning design and delivery; this role provides technical expertise and builds scalable learning programs that prepare new hires and keep teams current. The position turns field gaps into scalable training, beginning with demo and proof-of-concept readiness for Sales Engineers. It builds on an existing SE onboarding program, learning management system, hands-on labs, and weekly training series. The role involves reviewing demos, POC reviews, call recordings, and escalations to identify training needs, and working with Engineering to address recurring documentation, product usability, and customer questions. It also supports launch readiness by preparing field teams before new features reach customers.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years in a technical customer-facing or technical enablement role, such as Sales Engineer, Solutions Engineer, Solutions Architect, TAM, Support Engineer, or Technical Enablement.
  • Hands-on experience personally running demos, POCs, deployments, or escalations, not solely training others to do so.
  • Ability to explain the product appropriately to Sales Engineers, Account Executives, and engineers.
  • Experience building reusable training such as labs, demos, certifications, videos, or playbooks, and explaining how its effectiveness was measured.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude or Claude Code, or similar, to build and maintain content and demonstrate how this enables support for a larger team.
  • Working knowledge of how developers build and ship software, including package managers such as npm or PyPI, CI/CD, and source control such as Git, GitHub, or GitLab.

Nice To Haves

  • Background in application security, software composition analysis (SCA), supply chain security, or developer tooling.
  • Experience keeping a field team current on a fast release cadence, weekly or every couple of weeks.
  • Ability to read and write basic Python, JavaScript, or Go scripts to build and maintain labs.
  • Experience with enterprise networking and proxies, including ZTNA, secure web gateways, and private package registries.

Responsibilities

  • Own technical onboarding for new Sales Engineers and expand onboarding to TAMs, CSMs, and Support.
  • Build hands-on labs and certification paths, and certify employees before they work with customers independently.
  • Partner with SE leadership to define the demo standard and train and certify SEs against it.
  • Agree with Customer Engineering leaders on readiness criteria for each role and track ramp progress.
  • Own the Customer Engineering technical knowledge base by auditing existing content, retiring outdated material, and maintaining accurate, self-serve resources.
  • Build deployment and troubleshooting guides for difficult environments, initially focusing on Socket Firewall in enterprise networks with proxies, ZTNA, and private registries such as Artifactory and Nexus.
  • Own technical competitive material for tools commonly encountered by Sales Engineers.
  • Review calls, POC reviews, and escalations to identify where teams get stuck and address gaps through training.
  • Bring recurring field patterns to Engineering, including missing documentation, confusing user experience, and questions that repeatedly draw engineers into deals.
  • Coordinate with engineers shipping features to train the field before customers see them.
  • Turn each release into field-ready material, such as a short lab or demo, talk track, deployment steps, and known limitations.
  • Run regular technical training sessions for Sales Engineers and Customer Engineering.

Benefits

  • Market-competitive salary bands.
  • Meaningful equity program.
  • Comprehensive health benefits for employees and their families, with 99% coverage.
  • Flexible time off, holidays, and winter shutdown.
  • Paid parental leave.
  • Remote-first work with quarterly team off-sites.
