About The Position

CMLS Financial is looking for a Team Lead to steer their Borrower Services team through the "back-office" complexities of a $46B portfolio. This is a role for a seasoned mortgage professional who enjoys the challenge of forensic problem-solving and has a passion for mentoring the next generation of lending experts.

Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in mortgage operations, with a strong preference for experience in commercial mortgage products.
  • One (1) year of experience leading teams and believe the best results come from a team that feels empowered, well-trained, and mentored.
  • You don't just flag a problem; you stay with it until the numbers balance and the stakeholders have the answers they need.
  • A proactive, self-driven approach. You take full accountability for managing projects from inception to completion, ensuring every deadline is met without sacrificing quality.
  • You excel at making high-stakes credit decisions and handling escalations efficiently, never letting a busy pipeline compromise your clarity or judgment.
  • You can leverage Excel to pull apart complex calculations and work backwards to find the source of an issue.
  • Proficiency in English and French (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of 4, providing the technical coaching and performance management needed to transform high-potential talent into seasoned experts.
  • Oversee the operational integrity of a $46B commercial portfolio, managing everything from post-funding setup and complex ad-hoc requests to final loan payouts.
  • Act as the go-to expert for customized deal structures and exceptions, using critical thinking to balance borrower needs with risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for brokers and investors, translating intricate financial calculations into clear, actionable solutions.
  • Lead the charge on departmental projects to ensure our technology matches our gold-standard service.
  • Expertly balance workloads and servicing queues, ensuring the team remains agile and accurate in a high-volume, ever-evolving environment.
