About The Position

CMLS Financial is looking for a Team Lead to steer their Borrower Services team through the "back-office" complexities of a $46B portfolio. This is a role for a seasoned mortgage professional who enjoys the challenge of forensic problem-solving and has a passion for mentoring the next generation of lending experts. Requirements

  • Two (2) years of experience in mortgage operations, with a strong preference for experience in commercial mortgage products.
  • One (1) year of experience leading teams.
  • Ability to stay with a problem until the numbers balance and stakeholders have answers.
  • Proactive, self-driven approach with accountability for managing projects from inception to completion.
  • Ability to make high-stakes credit decisions and handle escalations efficiently.
  • Proficiency in leveraging Excel to analyze complex calculations and identify issues.
  • Proficiency in English and French (verbal and written).

Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a dedicated team of 4, providing technical coaching and performance management.
  • Oversee the operational integrity of a $46B commercial portfolio, managing post-funding setup, complex ad-hoc requests, and final loan payouts.
  • Act as the go-to expert for customized deal structures and exceptions, balancing borrower needs with risk mitigation.
  • Serve as the senior escalation point for brokers and investors, translating intricate financial calculations into clear, actionable solutions.
  • Lead departmental projects to ensure technology matches gold-standard service.
  • Optimize daily operations by balancing workloads and servicing queues to ensure team agility and accuracy in a high-volume environment.
