About The Position

This course is offered to all University of Ottawa professors who are members of the APUO or APTUO. During this discussion series professors will have the opportunity to practice speaking in their second official language while sharing insights on best teaching practices with their peers. Participants will be asked to discuss various topics related to teaching: Past teaching experiences, Educational and technological tools and resources, Teaching methods, types of courses and their particularities, Teaching approaches and methods, Student learning assessment, Resources and services offered by the University of Ottawa. Once the class is completed, if the learner has actively participated in at least 80% of the meetings, they will be eligible for a one-hour individual session with the instructor to review their own classroom material for a course that they teach in their second language. The course runs from October 15 to December 10, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:30 p.m. (No classes during reading week). This course is given online (virtual mode).

Requirements

  • B.A. with specialization in a field relevant to the teaching of L2 English or Higher Certificate in L2 French Teaching.
  • Two years of experience teaching ESL at the college and/or university level.
  • Previous experience teaching this course or an equivalent ESL course.
  • Experience with heterogeneous groups.
  • Online (virtual mode) delivery.

  • An acceptable level of education/experience may be considered equivalent to the required training and/or demonstrated experience.
