About The Position

This job advertisement is to fill an existing vacancy in the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) for Medieval and Renaissance Civilizations MARS 1F90. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds. Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.

Requirements

• Completed graduate degree or in progress in medieval and/or Renaissance studies, History or English. If there are no qualified applicants, will consider applicants with completed undergraduate degree in medieval and/or Renaissance studies, History or English.
• Evidence of previous successful teaching assistant experience at the university level in medieval and/or Renaissance studies.
• Experience with online course components and activities.
• Demonstrated knowledge of medieval and/or Renaissance civilizations (i.e., course work, research papers, theses, directed reading).

Responsibilities

• Scheduled contact time with students
• Non-classroom time including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.
