About The Position

Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the PHIL 1F90 course for the Fall/Winter term. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 employee group. Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications the employee holds. Employees who do not hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate of $23.30 per hour. Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate of $36.67 per hour. Additional duties required will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.

Requirements

Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 80% in the course or course equivalent
Be currently enrolled in a degree program for or already have completed an MA in Philosophy
Must have effective communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to explain subject material to students
Proven track record of working effectively with others
The successful applicant must be punctual in attending classes and be able to meet appropriate deadlines
