About The Position
Brock University is seeking a Teaching Assistant for the PHIL 1F91 Fall/Winter D1 course. This position is part of the CUPE4207-1 (Employee Group) and involves supporting the Introduction to Philosophy: Human Nature course. Compensation for Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator, and Lab Demonstrator positions is based on qualifications, with different rates for undergraduate and graduate degree holders. Additional duties will be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate. The duties and responsibilities are in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement, and include scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time such as preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration.
Requirements
- Applicants must have achieved a minimum of 80% in the course or course equivalent
- Be currently enrolled in a degree program for or already have completed an MA in Philosophy
- Must have effective communication skills, both written and verbal, as well as the ability to explain subject material to students
- Proven track record of working effectively with others
- The successful applicant must be punctual in attending classes and be able to meet appropriate deadlines

- Experience with internet platforms for teaching is an asset (e.g., Teams, Brightspace, and/or LifeSize)
